CLIL Teacher Training Course

Erasmus+ Eligible

A 5-day Content and Language Integrated Learning course for school teachers, eligible for Erasmus+ funding.

CLIL Teacher Training is a 5-day in-person course in Benalmádena, near Málaga, taught in English and eligible for Erasmus+ funding. The course works through the full Content and Language Integrated Learning method — soft CLIL, hard CLIL, language scaffolding, and dual-focus assessment — through hands-on workshops and tutor-supported lesson planning. Each participant builds a CLIL unit they can teach the week they return, presents it for expert feedback, and adjusts before final delivery. Mixed cohorts of teachers from different school levels turn cross-phase exchange into part of the format, not an afterthought.

What You Will Gain

Erasmus+ certified CPD

Course completion certificate accepted as continuing professional development by school authorities across the EU.

Classroom-ready takeaways

Every session ends with a worksheet, plan, or activity teachers can use the week they return — not a binder of theory.

Build a CLIL unit ready to teach

The week is structured around designing one full CLIL unit — soft or hard — with lesson plans, scaffolding tasks, and an assessment rubric you can use the week you return.

Master soft CLIL and hard CLIL approaches

Both methodologies covered — language-led and content-led — so you know which to apply when, and you’ve practiced delivering each before you leave.

Scaffold language for content learning

Practical strategies for supporting students whose language skills lag behind the content — tested in workshop drills, refined through tutor feedback.

Integrate language and subject teaching

Move beyond parallel teaching — design lessons where students develop fluency and subject knowledge simultaneously, with measurable outcomes in both.

Example Schedule

Monday

Morning sessions cover communicative grammar practice in pair and group work, anchoring language fluency before content blocks. Afternoon introduces CLIL: what it is, why it works, scaffolding strategies for mixed-level classrooms.

Tuesday

Morning grammar continues with classroom-application drills. Afternoon distinguishes soft CLIL (language-led) from hard CLIL (content-led) — when each works — followed by collaborative lesson planning to put the method into practice.

Wednesday

Morning: advanced grammar in classroom contexts, with games and interactive tasks. Afternoon: continue soft CLIL planning with tutor support, then trial-deliver it to peers and receive immediate feedback from the room.

Thursday

Morning: error correction and student-centred grammar approaches. Afternoon: design a hard CLIL lesson with team support, then present and refine it with tutor and peer reflection.

Friday

Morning consolidates language and methodology takeaways, applied to subject integration. Afternoon: embedding CLIL in a regular school timetable, participant evaluation, and EUTA certification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the CLIL course for?

The course is designed for school teachers at any level — primary, secondary, or high school — who want to integrate language learning with subject teaching. Both subject teachers and language teachers benefit. B1 English minimum.

Do I need teaching experience to attend?

Active classroom practice is recommended but not required. The schedule is built so first-year teachers and 20-year veterans both leave with concrete tools — workshops adapt to the room.

What’s the difference between soft CLIL and hard CLIL?

Soft CLIL is language-led — for example, an English class teaching geography vocabulary. Hard CLIL is content-led — for example, a science class taught in English. Both are covered in the course, with a workshop building one of each.

Will I leave with materials I can use in my classroom?

Yes. The week is structured around building one full CLIL unit you can teach the week you return — lesson plans, scaffolding tasks, and an assessment rubric included. Tutor feedback is part of every iteration.

Is this course eligible for Erasmus+ funding?

Yes. The course is eligible for Erasmus+ funding, and we provide the documentation your school needs for the grant application — course description, Learning Agreement, daily programme, and invitation letter. Read the full Erasmus+ for teachers walkthrough →

Where will I stay during the course week?

Teachers stay at Flatotel International, a comfortable hotel walking distance from the EUTA campus and the Mediterranean — daily breakfast included, with private or shared room options and full board available as an add-on. What is CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning)?

CLIL — Content and Language Integrated Learning — means teaching a school subject through a second language, so students build subject knowledge and language skills at the same time. This course covers both “soft” CLIL (language-led) and “hard” CLIL (content-led), with hands-on lesson planning you can use straight away.
