Erasmus+ Funding for Teachers
How to use Erasmus+ KA1 grants for professional development courses in Spain.
What Is Erasmus+ KA1?
Erasmus+ is the European Union’s leading programme for education, training, youth, and sport. Through Key Action 1 (KA1) — Staff Mobility — individual teachers and school staff can access fully funded professional development courses abroad.
At EUTA, we help you make the most of Erasmus+ KA1 — from selecting the right course to providing all the documentation your school needs for the application. Our courses in Benalmádena, Spain are designed specifically for Erasmus+ participants and meet all programme requirements.
How Does KA1 Work for Teachers?
Your school applies for Erasmus+ accreditation (or a short-term project) through your country’s National Agency. Once approved, individual teachers can use the funding to attend professional development courses abroad — including any EUTA course.
If your school isn’t yet accredited, you can still propose the idea. Many teachers are the ones who initiate the process — we can provide course information and supporting documents to help you make the case to your school management.
What KA1 Funding Covers
Erasmus+ KA1 grants typically cover 80–100% of costs for teacher training abroad.

Frequently Asked Questions About KA1
Am I eligible for Erasmus+ KA1 funding?
If you work at a school or educational organisation in an EU member state or Erasmus+ programme country, you are likely eligible. Your school needs to hold Erasmus+ accreditation or apply for a short-term mobility project. Individual teachers don’t apply directly — the application goes through your school or organisation.
What if my school doesn’t have Erasmus+ accreditation?
Your school can apply for Erasmus+ accreditation through your country’s National Agency — this gives ongoing access to mobility funding. Alternatively, they can apply for a short-term KA122 project without accreditation. Many teachers are the ones who initiate the process by presenting the opportunity to their school management. We can help by providing course information and supporting documents.
How much funding will I receive?
KA1 grants typically cover course fees (up to €80/day), travel (calculated by distance band), individual support (accommodation + daily allowance, varies by country, typically €100–180/day for Spain), and preparation costs. Most participants find that the grant covers 80–100% of total costs. Exact amounts depend on your National Agency’s rates.
When are the application deadlines?
Application rounds typically open in autumn with deadlines in February–March for the following academic year. Accredited organisations submit budget requests annually. We recommend planning 6–12 months ahead. Contact us anytime — we’re happy to help you prepare well in advance, even before you submit your application.
Can I choose which EUTA course to attend?
Yes — all EUTA teacher training courses are eligible for Erasmus+ KA1 funding. Choose the course that best fits your professional development goals and your school’s European Development Plan. We offer courses in CLIL, language teaching, multilingual classrooms, digital education, well-being, and more.
What documentation does EUTA provide?
We provide everything you need: detailed course descriptions, Learning Agreements, daily programme schedules, official invitation letters, proforma invoices, and post-course certificates including Europass Mobility documents. These documents support both your grant application and your final report to the National Agency.
Can I attend without Erasmus+ funding?
Yes — all EUTA courses are open to self-funded participants. Many teachers attend without Erasmus+ funding, paying directly or through other school budgets. See our teacher courses for pricing and availability.
